New projects for 2009

Happy new year everyone! I'm hoping to get the new year off on the right track so I'll be looking for some varigated yarn to make me one of these:



Just look at the slice of NY life that is. First off, I love the casual pose. Then look at the woman sitting next to the Yarn Explosion. She is determinedly not getting up even those Y.E. is shoved in next to her. Oh no, nothing weird happening next to her, no sirree.

Here's my bigger question: what kind of yarn should I use?

Zombies

It's that time of year again...folks start sending out the emails with dressed up dogs and we start finding zombie related news on the NY Times.

Firstly, there's Taking the Yoga ‘Corpse’ Pose Literally. The article about Yoga in a graveyard dressed as zombies.

Yup, that's right. Go on, go click on it. I'll wait here.

Isn't that WILD!!??

You see, I found that after I found this: Zombies Re-enact ‘Thriller’ in Times Square. It seems as though there actually is a Guiness World Record for the most people doing the dance from Thriller, Michael Jackson's hit song.

I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon.

What style should I get? I'm leaning toward the giraffe but I can be swayed.

I love my Ikea catalog but...

Clearly not as much as this guy. Apparently, the new Ikea catalog gets mailed out next month in Germany and Ikea has set this guy up in a room where he's patiently waiting for his. You can watch him on webcam and contact him via Twitter, email or even good old paper mail him although I'm guessing German is probably the language of choice. Right now, he seems to be amusing himself assembling a model car track. He could use some yarn and needles.

I'm also really disturbed by the way it makes you ("you" being the drinker, not necessarily "you" the dear reader) look like a pig.

Where the blondes are

It's official: Scandinavia has a hella lot of blondes.

No idea why today when apparently the patent for the first microwave oven was filed on Oct. 6, 1945 but hey. So pop some microwave popcorn today. Just don't breathe too deeply.
